Enterprises and companies that want to set up gyms or exercise Spaces for their employees’ daily exercise and fitness, regardless of their size or budget, the ultimate goal is to enable employees to enjoy the convenience of exercise and fitness more conveniently, comfortably and reliably.

When a company is making configurations, it should generally consider the following principles:
Adapt measures to local conditions
The space available for gyms in enterprises and public institutions is usually quite limited. Its area, floor height, lighting and layout may all be restricted. There is no need to insist on certain conditions. Make use of the space in accordance with local conditions and appropriately accommodate or transform it.

- Meet the mass demand for sports and fitness
Almost all the employees of companies and enterprises are urban mental workers. Most of them have no foundation in exercise and have not had a comprehensive understanding of sports and fitness. Their demands can be summed up in eight words: fat loss and body shaping, health and vitality.
The gym should offer some sports that are generally acceptable to ordinary people. It should be equipped with safe, reliable, easy-to-operate and convenient fitness equipment. The sports should not be too niche.
However, the company may have one or two “hardcore” fitness enthusiasts. If they put forward some requirements regarding configuration and equipment and the budget allows, it can be considered. But the main body should be designed to meet the exercise needs of the majority of light trainers.

- Leave blank space
The first is the blank space in terms of space. Leaving some space without placing anything in it not only makes the space appear spacious but also allows for more use of the space. Moreover, it leaves room for possible additions or changes to projects in the future.
- Democracy and centralism
One or two people draft the plan, seek the opinions of several others, and finally the leader makes the final decision. Do not be overly democratic. It is difficult to please everyone. Satisfying everyone will make this matter hard to be satisfactory.

Equipment selection
I. Aerobic equipment
- Treadmill
It cannot be called a gym without a treadmill (only a very few special fitness studios do not have it). The treadmill is simple and easy to operate. It is not limited by weather or temperature and can be used for running. It can absorb shock, adjust slopes, and even allow you to watch TV while running. It is a very good fitness equipment.
When making a choice, it is recommended to pay attention to the following aspects
Key core parameters
A treadmill is essentially a motor-driven conveyor belt. To use it safely and comfortably, the most crucial factors are the area of the running zone and the power of the motor.
The length of the running area is generally 152cm, and the minimum width should not be less than 50 cm. Of course, the wider, the better (the upper limit is basically 60 cm).
The motor power should be at least 3HP, and it is best to reach 4-5HP.
Some people might pay attention to shock absorption. Even for domestic commercial treadmills that cost several thousand yuan at present, their shock absorption is definitely better than that on the road surface. The shock absorption effect of high-end products is slightly better, but they are also more expensive, and it is difficult for ordinary consumers to distinguish them.
So this point can be judged by the overall cost performance of the product and the level of the budget!
(2) Whether the operation is simple and convenient
In fact, it’s about whether the central control console of the treadmill is easy to operate. The main daily operations are just a few: start, end, speed adjustment, and slope adjustment.
Users usually look at the displayed numbers such as speed, mileage, calories and heart rate. Other complex preset programs, tests and so on are rarely used.
(3) Maintenance and warranty
At present, most new models of treadmills are integrated with easy-to-maintain functions, such as automatic oiling and scanning codes for warranty services, etc. As long as they are not used violently or under excessive pressure in daily life, problems are unlikely to occur.
As for the warranty, it depends on the after-sales quality and maintenance and repair prices of the treadmill brand in the region where it is located. Of course, if you choose a big brand, you don’t have to worry about this.

- Elliptical machine
Second only to the treadmill, its advantages are low impact, and the intensity and difficulty are suitable for beginners and full-body exercises.
In medium and small-sized gyms, the ratio of elliptical machines to treadmills is 1:3-6 (3 treadmills and 1 elliptical machine;) 10 to 12 treadmills and 2 elliptical machines.
If the budget allows, it is recommended to purchase an elliptical machine with adjustable resistance, which will have a better fitness effect.
- Exercise bike
That is a sitting bicycle fitness machine (not a spinning bike).
This kind of thing is generally favored by casual users and “old comrades”. Try to get it right in one go and buy the one with cushions, which helps to exercise easily and makes users feel that they have been exercising for a long time and it has been effective.
- Other aerobic activities
Common aerobic equipment: rowing machine, ladder climbing machine, wind resistance bicycle;
Uncommon aerobic equipment: upper limb trainers, ski machines, rope climbing machines, non-powered treadmills, resistance sled machines, rock climbing machines, and other less common aerobic fitness devices.
The configuration standard mainly depends on whether the company’s budget and scene planning have sufficient space for placement.

Ii. Fixed force equipment
- Single-function counterweight plate equipment
Big (small) bird machine, Smith machine, sitting flat push machine, sitting up push machine, sitting down pull machine, sitting horizontal pull machine, sitting leg flexion and extension dual-purpose machine, sitting leg kick machine;
These are what need to be given priority. As for sitting two-head bending and raising machines, sitting shoulder raising machines, butterfly machines, heel raising machines, leg adduction machines, etc., you can consider them as appropriate (if you have a large space and a sufficient budget, then buy them).
- Modular multi-directional equipment
It is just to integrate each counterweight plate trainer together, which saves more space. The 5-position large flying bird machine has functions in each of the four directions on its right side.
Iii. Free Weight Apparatus
For company gyms, free weight equipment is used less frequently, but it is still needed. The general configuration is as follows:
A set of dumbbells
2 to 20 kilograms is sufficient. PU outer layer round heads or hexagonal dumbbells are fine. If there are no particularly professional ones, you can ignore those weighing over 20 kilograms.
(2) Adjustable training stool
Adjustable height training stools, 1-2 pieces.
(3) Other small props
Several kettlebells (4-16 kilograms), yoga MATS, foam rollers, skipping ropes, push-up stands, yoga balls, etc. Choose according to the situation.
If we take into account the needs of our colleagues, it might be necessary to configure barbell bars, barbell plates and free squat racks!
- Floor materials
Generally, PVC rolls are selected for overall or partial laying.
If there is a need for shock absorption, you can simply lay a special shock absorption pad under the treadmill.
Since there is basically no “heavy free strength zone” set up, it is not even necessary to lay 2-5cm thick rubber floor MATS for the gym. If you are worried about the loud sound when lowering dumbbells, then it is appropriate to lay 10 to 25 square meters.
The layout and decoration are considerations for both the designer and the user. Generally speaking, they should have a reasonable direction, clear area division, and be clean and comfortable.
